Chicago Bears Ranked #1 in Pre-season Power Rankings

The Chicago Bears got an A+ draft grade from me and now I am Ranking them #1 in the NFC North.

Let’s take a brief look at the Chicago Bears Injuries from 2010.  This is just the devastating injuries, like like losing superstar team captain Brian Urlacher and the un-timely passing of Gaines Adams.

The offense actually put up a lot of points last year and will only be better now that Jay Cutler has had another year with his receivers and the addition Mike Martz can’t hurt. I’ve heard a statistic that Martz adds 7 points per game with his scheming.  So if Cutler can cut down on a few RedZone turnovers, then all the Bears need to do is play decent defense.  Coach Lovie Smith has asked the defense to focus on scoring touchdowns.  Now that’s the Chicago Bears I’ve grown to love.  So 7 more from the offense, 7 more from the defense and giving up 1 less TD per game… sounds like a recipe for first place in the NFC North, especially considering that Brett Favre is retiring!

just because lovie “asks the defense to score touchdowns” doesn’t mean you can just go ahead and tack another 7 points towards the bears. don’t you think that every coach tells their defense to play better? also, the vikings are not the main concern, with or without brett. its the packers. i think the bears could win the division, but they need to at the very least split with the packers.

true, you can’t just say, defense go in and score, but I think they’ give up at least 7 point less per game on average… we’ll know in about 20 weeks
